Liability coverage

For your work truck, you might want to purchase commercial property insurance. Although many handymen use a shed or garage to house their work, you may want to purchase a commercial auto policy for your business truck. This is especially important if you plan to transport cargo or tow other vehicles. This coverage will cover both smaller and larger accidents, and some policies even bundle them. Liability insurance will help cover any legal costs associated with your work truck, but it is not the most comprehensive form of coverage.

Repairing patios, decks, and balconies

Although your deck may be beautiful and a great outdoor space it will still need to be maintained. It is possible for decks to require basic maintenance like staining or painting. While a handyman might be able to perform most of these tasks, they may also require patching. The extra square footage is worth it. You should be cautious about anyone advertising themselves as a handyman. They may say they know how to do something, but if you are looking for the legal side of things, look for an electrician or a plumber, not a handyman.

Simple electrical work

A licensed handyman will be able to complete most tasks related to electrical work. If your electrical work doesn't require much effort, they may be capable of connecting your smart devices and signing off on the work. However, there are risks associated with electrical work, such as substandard or improperly done. This is why it is recommended to hire an electrician licensed in your area. Photographs of failed electrical installations can be used to confirm the safety of your work.

Leakage repair

As a homeowner, you might wonder if plumbing a leaky pipe can be considered legal work. The type of leak and the circumstances will impact the answer. Leaky pipes can be a nuisance, but they can also cause health problems such as mold and mildew. Although a handyman can locate the leak and repair it, this is not the right project for a plumber. You can have the job done by a handyman service.

How do I replace a damaged window?

One of the most popular home improvement projects is to replace broken windows. The task consists of repairing damage caused to the glass inside your house. Repair work in this instance should take no more than 30 minutes. If you don't know how to replace broken glass, you could cause more damage to your home. This article provides some tips on replacing a broken window.

First, remove the old glass from its frame

To remove the old glass, you must first lift out the screws holding the windowpane in place. Next, undo the lock in the middle of the bottom section. Next, lift the window slightly up so that it is no longer attached the sill plate (the steel bar at the floor). Use a plier to loosen any remaining screws. Once the panes are removed, clean them thoroughly.

Step 2: Clean the new glasses

Use a dry towel or paper towel to clean the glass. To remove any dirt or other debris from the glass' surface, spray it with water and rub alcohol.

Third Step: Reinstall the replacement glass

Reattach the window panes into the frames. Begin by gently pressing down on one end of the outermost panel with the tip a screwdriver. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Next, move on to the next pane and press it against the frame before attaching it. Continue inserting panes until all windows are assembled. You can seal the spaces where the panes meet using a silicone caulk pistol.

Fourth step: Repair the damage

When installing the new glass, inspect the area around the hole to determine whether any additional repairs are needed. Inspect the area around the window for cracks near the corners. If so, add two small pieces wood to each side. These wooden blocks will give strength to the window and act as spacers between the glass and the weatherproofing material.

Fiveth step: Seal the repair area

After the glass has had to be replaced, apply silicone caulking at the perimeter edges. This will create a seal between the glass frame and the wallboard. You can find silicone caulking in hardware stores and online. Make sure you choose a color that is consistent with the wall's existing paint.

Finally, let the caulking cure overnight. Do not disturb the caulking until it has hardened completely. You may crack the caulking by not waiting long enough.
